Job description:
The Sales Estimator position is responsible for prompt and accurate turnaround of inquiries and quote requests from the customers needing engineered construction products. The Sales Estimator works in an environment that requires timely responses to customer inquiries about our industrial grating. The use of computer systems aids in the pricing process. Duties
In the normal course of the job, the Sales Estimator will:
- Use of Epicor ERP, respond to quote requests and inquiries with timely and accurate information, including lead and delivery times for standard and custom designed jobs.
- Interact with plant management where necessary to accurately specify labor resources for job quotes.
- Identify material, including grade, type, and quantities necessary for placing raw material orders.
- File all quote and purchase order information for reference.
- Consult with customer and internal resources when there is uncertainty or clarification is needed.
- If necessary, visit customer or job locations to gather additional information.
- Evaluate the profitability of the completed job and identify areas of improvement.
- Provide customer satisfaction by ensuring that the delivered product meets customer expectations, works with manufacturing and quality control to address issues.
- Take necessary steps to identify when customer expectations are not met and providing constructive feedback to improve all processes.
- Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with customers.
- Proactively source new customer sales opportunities through e-marketing, cold calling and attending trade shows.
Skills
Analytical skills - Accurately evaluate detailed specifications. Use of existing tools, including heavy reliance on Epicor and Microsoft Office (Excel). Excellent math skills are required.
Attention to Detail - Diligence is essential in insuring that all aspects of the estimation process are accurately incorporated into estimates.
Technical skills - The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine specifications, product design and material quantities needed to meet bid requirements. Must have a working knowledge of the manufacturing process, plant capabilities and material limitations to determine what can be scheduled and delivered as promised.
Time-management skills - Quick turnaround in responding to requests is necessary and requires the ability to prioritize and focus effort.
Writing skills - Sales Estimator must be able to draft detailed reports, and respond to customer emails and calls in a professional manner, both in response to inquiries but also to ensure customer satisfaction following delivery.
Qualifications-Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively and work under deadlines.
