Collection System - Whitpain Township

Whitpain Township, Montgomery County, PA (population 20,333) seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Collection System Operator.

The Collection System Operator monitors and maintains wastewater pump stations, sewer lines, and equipment in wastewater system in Whitpain Township.

Inspects, maintains, and repairs wastewater pump stations, meter pits, and related equipment throughout the Township.

Following inspection and repairs, the operator completes preventative maintenance on all equipment (pumps, motors, tanks, and electrical panels). This includes checking fluids, listening for noise, lubricating components, and replacing parts (bearings, brushes, belts, breakers, flights, sprockets, chains).

Maintains and cleans meter pits, wet wells, and dry wells in pumping stations, buildings, and other property areas.

When repairs or installations are needed, the operator accesses sewage pipeline systems and laterals, fabricates metal parts, welds materials, and fits pipes.

The operator also assists other Public Works Divisions as needed.

In emergency situations, including severe weather and natural disasters, the operator responds to ensure system integrity.

Minimum High School Education or an Equivalent.

At least 2 years of relevant Public Works experience required. Experience in municipal or government settings preferred.

Must possess a valid Class B CDL license with a clean driving record.

Frequently use tools and equipment, stand, walk, lift and carry up to 80 lbs., and push or pull up to 40 lbs. Must demonstrate safe handling techniques.

Occasionally sit, recline, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.

Must maintain strong visual acuity, including mid, near, far, depth perception, and color vision, to ensure safety and accuracy on the job.

Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and frequently exposed to noise, traffic, vibration, and wet or hazardous environments.

Frequently work around moving machinery, slippery or uneven surfaces, unprotected heights, sharp edges, hot surfaces, and dusty conditions. Must adhere to all safety protocols.
