Locate Technician

Overview

Locate Technician position with Grid Hawk LLC. The role involves accurately locating underground facilities such as telephone lines, electric lines, gas lines, fiber, water and sewer lines. The job supports compliance with client and state requirements and includes observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Technicians may work independently or in a team under an assigned supervisor.

• Locate underground facilities using appropriate methods and equipment.
• Observe and document underground and exposed utility locations; mark and verify locations for utility customers.
• Interpret job orders, blueprints, and maps to plan and perform duties.
• Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime and holiday hours as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and third parties to ensure a damage-free environment.
• Work in various terrains and weather conditions in construction and residential/commercial settings.
• Utilize provided tools and equipment safely; operate in a supervised team when required.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• State-issued driver's license.
• Ability to problem solve and interpret multiple types of prints.
• Vacuum truck experience (A+).
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Pass a background screening (no violations within the last 5 years).
• Pass a DOT drug test.
• Experience with computer skills and utility locating (preferred).

• Job Type: Full-time.
