Heavy Equipment Operator – Turner, Warren, Hwang & Conrad AC
Job Summary
The Equipment Operator (EO) operates heavy equipment at client sites and at CT Industrial Services (CTIS) owned sites. The EO is responsible for the safe and proficient operation and general maintenance of heavy equipment during remediation and/or construction projects, ensuring all health, safety, quality, and compliance standards are met.
- Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following all policies and working safely at all times.
- Assist with site tasks such as installing/removing silt fences, cleaning tracks, greasing equipment, and spotting trucks.
- Operate at least three of the following equipment types proficiently: excavator, bulldozer, front‑end loader, skid steer, roller, water truck, motor grader, or other construction equipment.
- Complete and submit daily checklists documenting operation and any maintenance issues.
- Perform routine general maintenance: greasing fittings, topping off liquids, cleaning/replacing filters, and maintaining the operator’s cabin.
- Operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and company or site SOPs.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
- Handle tools, move materials, and perform general manual labor as required.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete online mandated Health and Safety and corporate/regulatory training.
- Obtain a OSHA 40‑hour Hazwoper certificate.
- Wear and properly use PPE levels A, B, C, and D (including respirators, protective clothing, and footwear).
- Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, while wearing PPE.
- Work extended shifts (>8 hours) as needed.
- Hold a valid state‑issued driver’s license which is required and a continuing condition of employment.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Pass a criminal background check for security clearance on government installations.
- Extensive traveling is mandatory; crews typically travel out of town Monday through Friday.
- Two men share a hotel room unless the crew reaches supervisor level.
- Per diem of $50.00 per overnight day when traveling.
