The Carpenter/Painter performs necessary carpentry and painting duties to maintain facilities in good repair and appearance. The pay listed is the hourly rate or range for this position. Basic Qualifications- Must be 18 years of age or older
- No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
- No experience required and on-the-job training is provided
- One (1) year of similar work experience preferred
- Perform carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, counters, benches, partitions, and doors
- Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments
- Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work
- Select materials necessary for the work
- Paint walls, woodwork, and fixtures
- Identify surface peculiarities and determine the types of paint required for different applications
- Prepare surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes
- Mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency
- Use spray gun and/or brush to apply paint
