Automation and Robotics Field Service Quality Technician

Job Description

Talascend is seeking an experienced traveling Automation and Robotics Field Quality Technician (IQC) to support the installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of automated material handling and conveyor systems within large warehouse and distribution center environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial robots, PLC-controlled equipment, and material-handling systems.
• Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics to identify root causes and restore equipment to safe, reliable operation.
• Troubleshoot PLC controls, motors, encoders, sensors, relays, starters, and other automation components.
• Support robotic systems, including ABB and Fanuc platforms, and assist with system calibration and optimization.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings to support installation and repair activities.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
• Lead or support installation crews and coordinate daily activities to meet project schedules and customer requirements.
• Partner with engineers, operators, and customers during system installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Provide technical training and support to customers and operators on equipment operation and routine maintenance.
• Complete service reports, work orders, maintenance records, and other technical documentation.
• Follow all site safety procedures and applicable electrical safety standards.

• 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, field service, maintenance, or material-handling environments.
• Hands-on experience installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting automated equipment.
• Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Mitsubishi PLC systems.
• Experience with industrial robotic platforms, preferably ABB and/or Fanuc.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot motors, sensors, encoders, pumps, valves, and other industrial components.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, engineers, and site teams.
• OSHA and NFPA 70E training or experience is a plus.
• Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
