Application Developer

This role involves developing a cross‑platform utility app for iOS and Android that enables users to block selected applications using an NFC‑triggered mechanism. The app will replicate the core functionality of "The Brick" (getbrick.app), focusing on a seamless user experience for toggling app restrictions via NFC tags. The developer will be responsible for implementing the blocking logic, ensuring reliable NFC integration, and maintaining local device storage for user preferences.

The project requires a strong understanding of both mobile platforms' system‑level APIs and a commitment to privacy, as no backend or cloud storage will be used.

• Design and develop a mobile application for iOS and Android that allows users to select and block specific apps.
• Integrate NFC functionality to trigger the blocking and unblocking of selected apps.
• Implement the "Bricked" and "Unbricked" state logic, ensuring accurate status tracking.
• Utilize the Screen Time API (Family Controls) for iOS and Accessibility Services or Overlay for Android to manage app blocking.
• Ensure all user settings and preferences are stored securely and locally on the device.
• Test and debug the application to ensure reliability and a smooth user experience.
• Provide clear documentation for app usage and NFC setup.

• Proven experience in developing and deploying mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Strong proficiency with Swift (iOS) and Kotlin/Java (Android).
• Experience working with NFC APIs and device hardware integration.
• Familiarity with iOS Screen Time API (Family Controls) and Android Accessibility Services/Overlay.
• Ability to implement secure local data storage solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of privacy and security best practices for mobile apps.
