The Payment Products Development (PPD) – Authorization Services Test Engineering (aka VIP TE) team supports the core Visa Net Integrated Payment (VIP) System which is the heart of making Visa the best way to pay and be paid for everyone, everywhere. The team handles worldwide Business Enhancement Releases, quarterly, monthly and weekly projects, as well as multiyear infrastructure projects that are deployed onto an IBM mainframe application running on z/TPF (z/Transaction Processing Facility).

We also support and work with other peer Test Engineering organizations to support integration, downstream and end-to-end testing to ensure no defects adversely affect the VIP systems.

Software Engineer in Test Engineering

As a Software Engineer in VIP TE, you will be part of a talented team that works on mission-critical payment applications and delivers quality products, services and solutions using best-in-class processes, methodologies, and technology with our worldwide workforce. The TE community at Visa is committed to leveraging innovative technology solutions to enhance software quality and accelerate the time-to-market of different product platforms.

You will be responsible for validating and verifying the overall functionality and performance of a complete and fully integrated software solution ensuring that the software developed meets the specified requirements and if it is suitable for delivery to the end-users with an innate desire to code, automate and remove repetitive and manual tasks to improve efficiency and engineering productivity. Following secure SDLC standards, you love to design and develop highly capable, best-in-class test products, tools, frameworks and solutions using a variety of technologies such as mainframes (z/TPF, MVS etc.),

mainframe based legacy programming languages (e.g. REXX) to open-source object-oriented programming languages, web technologies, microservices etc., finally ensuring the highest quality documentation for each solution developed. Creative thinking is in your DNA, and you are passionate about identifying innovative solutions to solve newer, complex test engineering problems while also ideating and exploring options to continually improve existing solutions (test products, tools and frameworks).

In this role, you will be actively involved in value-based manual and exploratory testing in addition to regular systematic functional and regression testing, risk identification, configuration management, production deployment and support. These will be an integral part of your daily job. Your unwavering passion for ensuring quality and focus on advancing product excellence will help you to think through complex business scenarios, product specifications, and development and/or system designs to find architectural gaps, edge cases and defects in code.

At the same time, to maintain quick time-to-market of different product platforms and services, you are ready to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment balancing aggressive development schedules with the need for quality software.
