Description

The Dispatcher is responsible for daily operations of the dispatch office, focusing on heavy equipment, trucking, and permit coordination. This role ensures the efficient and effective use of Brubacher’s equipment, trucks, and personnel while prioritizing company-owned resources over rentals.

The Dispatcher also trains truck drivers and assigned personnel on safe and proper equipment use, work techniques, and company procedures. All work must follow company policies, D.O.T. regulations, and safety standards. The Dispatcher is expected to maintain strong communication with Supervisors and Operations Managers and promote a safe, efficient, and positive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate company-owned equipment, trucks, and personnel efficiently.
  • Prioritize Brubacher equipment use before rentals.
  • Keep up-to-date with project schedules and needs, coordinating with Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
  • Complete and distribute daily job schedules by 4:00 PM for the following day.
  • Consult with Operations Management when resources are insufficient or when rental/contract options are needed.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of company fleet specifications and capabilities.
  • Understand personnel classifications and skillsets.
  • Operate and manage the company’s automated dispatch and scheduling system.
  • Stay familiar with project locations and assist in planning efficient routes and deliveries.
  • Apply for transportation permits using PennDOT’s online system.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and resolve inquiries or complaints in a manner that promotes a positive image of Brubacher.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as company safety policies.
  • Ensure truck drivers consistently wear required safety gear and comply with all safety policies.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Promote accident prevention and safe work practices.
  • Conduct or oversee training for truck drivers and others as assigned to improve or develop job-related skills.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Windows, and related software.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve operator performance through observation and feedback.
