Junior Purchase Ledger Assistant

Due to increasing commitments, we now have an opportunity for a Junior Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our dedicated team based in Penrith, Cumbria.

To support our finance team with the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger, helping ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time, with the opportunity to study towards AAT qualification alongside the role.

• Processing supplier invoices and credit notes accurately onto the purchase ledger
• Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, and helping resolve queries with suppliers and internal departments
• Assisting with reconciling supplier statements and following up on discrepancies
• Supporting the preparation of payment runs and BACS payments
• Maintaining accurate supplier records and filing
• Assisting with month-end purchase ledger reporting and accruals
• Responding to supplier queries by phone and email in a timely, professional manner
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required

• Some experience in an accounts, admin or purchase ledger environment is helpful but not essential — we are happy to support the right candidate from the start
• Good working knowledge of Excel, and willingness to learn our accounting software (Sage experience an advantage)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with figures
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload
• A proactive, team-oriented approach with clear communication skills
• A genuine interest in building a career in finance, with the motivation to study towards AAT
