Female Rehabilitation Support Companion

Are you a caring, patient and encouraging person who enjoys helping someone make the most of their day? We are looking for a Female Rehabilitation Support Companion to assist a 74-year-old lady living in the Kirkoswald area. She has an acquired brain injury and is very independent with many aspects of daily life, but benefits from encouragement and support to get out into the community, enjoy social activities and continue working towards her therapy goals.

This is a role where the small things really do matter. Whether it is getting involved with a local community group, helping with gardening, baking something in the kitchen, attending an appointment or simply providing the encouragement to get out and about, you will help our client maintain her independence and enjoy the things that are important to her. You will be working 16 hours per week - days, afternoons and some weekends.

About the role As a Female Rehabilitation Support Companion, you will provide practical and social support both in the client's home and within the local community.

Your role will include:
Supporting and encouraging access to community, social and leisure activities Assisting with baking, cooking and gardening at home Following therapy programmes Assisting in the completion of household tasks and budgeting skills Accompanying the client to appointments Prompting with daily medication administration Our client has her own car and is able to drive, however a full driving licence and access to a car are essential for this role.

What we're looking for in a Female Rehabilitation Support Companion We're looking for someone who is warm, reliable and naturally encouraging, with the patience to support someone at their own pace. You should have:
Previous experience working in a support worker role You should be trained to NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or have equivalent experience e.g. completed year 1/level 4 of a recognised health profession degree course) A full driving licence and access to a car A genuine interest in supporting someone's independence and quality of life The position is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
