Overview
NXT Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established and growing business in Carlisle to recruit a Transport Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive logistics professional to join a busy operation, playing a key role in coordinating transport activities and ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently, safely, and cost‑effectively.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, transport providers, and internal departments to maintain high service levels, manage transport schedules, and support the smooth running of the logistics function.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and plan daily customer deliveries and collections
- Liaise with transport providers to ensure efficient and cost‑effective service delivery
- Monitor transport schedules and delivery performance, communicating updates where required
- Manage transport bookings and associated documentation
- Investigate and resolve transport‑related issues, delays, and customer queries
- Obtain and maintain proof of delivery documentation
- Coordinate stock transfers and support operational logistics requirements
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant transport legislation
- Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
- Maintain accurate transport records and reporting information
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure customer requirements are met
- Previous experience within a transport, logistics, planning, or supply chain role
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
- A proactive and customer‑focused approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of transport planning and logistics processes
- Experience coordinating third‑party transport providers and hauliers
- Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment
- Experience using transport planning or logistics management systems
