NXT Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for a Production Planner on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking business based in Carlisle.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced Planning, Supply Chain & Logistics team, playing a key role in coordinating operations across multiple sites. The successful candidate will act as a central link between management, site operations, and supply chain teams, helping to ensure machinery, manpower, and logistics are planned efficiently to meet operational demands.

This position would suit an experienced planner, logistics professional, or someone with transferable skills who enjoys problem‑solving, organisation, and working within a dynamic operational environment.

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities
  • Communicating operational requirements to site management and supervisory teams
  • Planning manpower and equipment requirements to meet operational demand
  • Monitoring and adjusting schedules to respond to operational changes and unforeseen conditions
  • Coordinating workflows across multiple operational sites
  • Managing fuel planning to support machinery operations
  • Organising machinery movements to ensure timely deployment and operational efficiency
  • Monitoring performance and updating KPIs
  • Managing maintenance schedules and planned downtime alongside operational demands
  • Identifying potential delays or operational issues and implementing solutions
  • Responding to equipment defects and breakdown reports
  • Supporting inventory management processes
  • Helping to ensure compliance with health and safety and operational standards
What will you bring?
  • Previous experience within planning, logistics, supply chain, or a similar operational role would be advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good IT skills across Microsoft Office programmes
  • An interest in digital systems and software developments
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines within a fast‑paced environment
  • A proactive attitude towards continuous improvement
  • Full UK driving licence essential
