Democracy and Engagement Coordinator

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our Engagement team on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave. It focuses on empowering students to shape union priorities through democratic processes and supporting their campaigns to bring meaningful change to our campuses.

Responsibilities
  • Support elected students with planning and delivering priority work throughout the academic year.
  • Develop a programme of activity to increase student engagement in union democracy.
  • Collaborate with students and sabbatical officers to design and deliver successful campaigns.
Qualifications
  • Excellent collaborator and communicator.
  • Champion of equality, diversity and inclusivity in democracy and decision‑making.
  • Confident in approaching and working with students, fostering ownership of suggestions.
  • Comfortable with administrative tasks such as taking meeting minutes and writing documents.
  • Organised, setting clear deadlines for oneself and others.

This is a fixed‑term, 0.6 FTE contract (21 hours per week). Hours are mainly during term time at Penryn Campus, with some time at Falmouth and Truro campuses. A working pattern of Tuesday–Thursday is preferred, but details will be discussed with the successful candidate.
