The starting salary will be from £34,610to £39,906 Grade Eon Grade E for the Postdoctoral Research Associate level and from £43,482on Grade F for the Postdoctoral Research Fellow level,depending on knowledge, skills and experience. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements. Hybrid working is an option.

We are looking to recruit a Research Fellow to join the Centre for Net Positive Health and Climate Solutions (Net+ Centre). This post is available from at the Centre for Net Positive Health and Climate Solutions (Net+ Centre) on the Penryn Campus.

The Net+ Centre launched on 1st of October 2024 and is a five-year research centre funded by UKRI. It is led by the University of Exeter alongside core partners at the UK Health Security Agency, The National Trust and Forest Research (and many other partners across sectors).The key aim of the Net+ Centre is to establish interdisciplinary research infrastructure, partnerships and capacity that will proactively deliver novel, impactful research on climate change and health with a focus on environmental-social-health inequalities.

Key topics include resilient green and blue infrastructure, resilient urban environments and resilient food systems.

The Research Associate/Fellow will be based at the University of Exeter’s Centre for Ecology and Evolution on the Penryn Campus. We are looking for a researcher with experience working on ecological questions and strong analytical skills. A key aim of the project will be to use ecological modelling approaches to investigate questions around vector-borne diseases, climate change and urban green spaces. However, the successful applicant may also participate in research across several other projects of the Net+ Centre;

key topics areas across projects are resilient green and blue infrastructure, resilient urban environments and resilient food systems.

The successful applicant will help to plan and deliver high quality research, particularly feeding into the Centre’s objective of investigating how future urban green spaces can be climate-resilient and healthy for all. This will include:
1) synthesizing research and collating datasets on vector-borne diseases, vector abundance, climate change and urban green spaces; and
2) testing the ecological determinants oftick abundance and disease risks in urban green space under climate change.

About You

Postdoctoral Research Associate: The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in ecological research and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to insert skills and knowledge required.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow: The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in ecological research. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in insert subject area and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
