Job Title: Traffic Control Laborer
Supervisor: Foreman
Job Description: Performs a variety of manual duties across multiple projects with varied experience requirements. Assists the foreman in traffic control tasks such as road striping, pavement marking, and fabrication and installation of temporary and permanent traffic control devices.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools and supplies.
- Clean tools, equipment, materials and work area.
- Digging, spreading and leveling dirt, sand and gravel.
- Assist equipment operators in positioning machines, verifying grades and signaling operators.
- Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials using hand tools.
- Direct other laborers in pouring concrete.
- Erect shoring and bracing.
- Assist in installation of pipe.
- Use power tools and air tools.
- Install and maintain erosion control.
- Assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor.
- Move throughout a construction jobsite, including climbing ladders and operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Education: Less than High School Diploma
Experience: At least 1–2 years of related traffic control experience preferred.
Physical Activity Level: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
Working Conditions: Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions.
Work Environment: Outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high and/or precarious places, loud noise. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.
