Project Engineer – Roadway

A large heavy civil contractor with a national footprint and an active Florida program is seeking a Project Engineer to support highway and bridge construction in the Pensacola, FL area. This role offers the chance to work on larger-scale infrastructure projects, including DOT work, with a stable, long-tenured employer and a defined path toward Project Manager.

• Support project managers and superintendents on active heavy civil projects
• Handle RFIs, submittals, drawings, transmittals, approvals and project documentation
• Track cost, quantities, production, materials, equipment and schedule updates
• Schedule work activities and material deliveries with the field team
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, cost reports and change orders
• Communicate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, field crews and project leadership
• Review drawings, specifications and contract documents
• Spend 20 to 30 percent of your time in the field observing construction progress
• Support safety, quality and contract compliance

• 3+ years of engineering experience on heavy civil, highway, road, bridge, drainage or utility projects
• Strong RFI, submittal, documentation, cost tracking and schedule exposure
• Ability to read plans, specs and contract documents
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field

• FDOT or other DOT project experience is a plus
• Primavera P6, HCSS or Bluebeam experience is a plus
• EIT or PE is a plus
• Spanish is a plus
• Candidates based in Pensacola, the Panhandle, or the Gulf Coast are preferred; those open to relocating to the Pensacola area are also welcome
