Position Specific Description

Next Era Energy is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. The PGD Field Engineer will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large‑scale universal solar and/or battery facilities in Florida. The individual will act as the site safety manager, ensuring personnel and equipment are safe and that sites comply with all regulatory permits.

Under limited guidance, the role includes routine tasks such as preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root‑cause analysis. At times, the engineer will be on‑call and responsible for Panhandle FL sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, vendors, and contractors as required. The position demands a highly motivated, action‑oriented professional capable of working independently and as part of a team.

A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is highly preferred.

  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection, and significant adaptation of standard techniques and procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Valid non‑CDL driver’s license.
