Distribution Engineer – Senior Professional
WSP is seeking a Distribution Engineer – Senior Professional for our Pensacola, FL office. You will work on projects with our Distribution Team and help meet client objectives.
This OpportunityProvides technical assistance and guidance for multi‑site projects, including due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development and construction of utility, industrial and commercial scale projects.
Your Impact- Develop methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data on substation components, equipment specifications, procurement packages and design processes.
- Review and advise on third‑party design documents, procurement lists and project plans.
- Incorporate future‑ready techniques and design requirements for equipment sizing, cabling, panel design and trenching.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research findings and recommendations.
- Apply knowledge of utility electrical systems to new design projects.
- Perform engineering calculations to develop comprehensive designs.
- Perform quality reviews of project deliverables.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5–7 years of post‑education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects.
- Engineer in Training certification.
- Experience with utility standards, joint facilities design and construction package development.
- Familiarity with distribution design software, both overhead and underground, NEC, GO codes and utility best practices.
- Strong command of English with good written and oral communication skills.
- Successful background screening and valid driver’s license.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s policies.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one in Florida.
- Prior utility experience and exposure to GIS, GE Small world, ArcFM, AUD, etc.
- Experience with work‑management programs such as Maximo or SAP.
- Ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers and drafters.
- Expectation of travel.
