Job Description

The Electrical Reliability Engineer at the Pensacola site is responsible for the design and reliability of electrical distribution systems and assets—including turbo generators, substations, transformers, switchgears, starters, protection relays, emergency generators, motors, VFDs, UPS, and battery backup systems. This role develops reliability strategies for low, medium, and high‑voltage equipment, provides guidance to internal customers to maintain system reliability, and supports continuous improvement objectives.

  • Serve as the site subject‑matter expert for electrical engineering.
  • Develop and improve asset care strategies to enhance MTBF, reduce maintenance costs, and increase on‑stream reliability.
  • Support the development of obsolescence and long‑range plans, including identification of bad‑actor equipment and mitigation plans.
  • Develop maintenance and reliability work scopes for plant turnarounds to meet site objectives.
  • Encourage and promote a proactive culture that innovates solutions driven by business profitability and bottom‑line results.
  • Partner with subject‑matter experts across the company to champion long‑term maintenance and reliability strategies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own the preventive and predictive maintenance program for low, medium, and high‑voltage electrical distribution equipment.
  • Provide oversight and expertise for site electrical safety compliance (NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, mechanical integrity, and reliability practices).
  • Provide technical support for maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of plant electrical systems.
  • Recommend and justify equipment upgrades and input to the plant capital plan.
  • Develop and review electrical work scopes for maintenance, turn‑around, and outages, including temporary power plans.
  • Lead and participate in failure analysis of electrical equipment and develop corrective actions.
  • Serve as the technical reviewer for Management of Change for electrical aspects.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and company standards; recommend corrective actions and improvements.
  • Develop predictive/preventive maintenance guidelines and programs; utilize SAP to manage the system.
  • Ensure compliance with technical engineering design standards for reconditioning or altering of existing systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a site motor testing program.
Qualifications – Required Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in low, medium, and high‑voltage hardware and distribution systems maintenance and reliability in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledgeable in load flow, arc flash, surge suppression, relay coordination, grounding design, transformer sizing, and conductor and cable sizing.
  • Experience reviewing and approving electrical specifications, drawings, and documentation.
  • Experience developing and implementing maintenance and reliability programs and procedures.
  • Ability to provide design support in engineering standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI).
Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment application, installation, and grounding standards.
  • Knowledge of instrument application and installation standards is a plus.
  • Strong understanding and experience with maintenance and reliability work processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Lead and participate in formal root cause analysis investigations.
  • Working knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis and Management of Change processes.
  • Ability to multi‑task, organize work, and meet timeline requirements.
  • Strategic mindset; creative, flexible, detail‑oriented, analytical, strong problem solver, and self‑starter.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and in a team‑based environment.
