Position: Assistant Engineer I (Entry-Level)

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an entry-level engineer (Assistant Engineer I) for our Pensacola office. As part of our design and process teams, you will work on water and wastewater projects, including drinking water / wastewater / reuse treatment facility upgrades, conveyance systems, well fields, stormwater management, water resources, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing engineering deliverables, including sampling studies, condition assessments, process modeling, hydraulics, and design reports.
  • Work directly with senior level engineering team providing mentoring opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Manage data for process modeling and design.
  • Attend client and internal project management meetings.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to select equipment.
  • Support multiple projects from planning through construction.
  • Participate in fieldwork and site visits (mostly in-state).
  • Conducts self-quality reviews before submitting work for additional QA/QC.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical engineering.
  • Strong interest in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience within the water/wastewater industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • EIT certification.
  • Bachelor's, Master’s or Doctorate in Environmental or Civil Engineering.
