Overview
Join ENERCON’s Design Services Group as an Associate Manager/Manager I&C Design Engineering. In this role, you’ll oversee a talented engineering unit, directing projects to success and ensuring exceptional quality standards. Your leadership will extend to business development, staff development, and organizational support, driving the team towards achieving business goals. This role can be based in one of the following locations:
- Kennesaw, GA
- Palm Beach Gardens, FL
- Pensacola, FL
- Birmingham, AL
- Fort Worth, TX
- Phoenix, AZ
- San Luis Obispo, CA
- King of Prussia, PA
- Baton Rouge, LA
Locations in Pensacola, Birmingham, Fort Worth, Phoenix, San Luis Obispo, Kennesaw, Palm Beach Gardens, and Baton Rouge may apply; other listed locations are also considered as noted above.
Responsibilities- Products & Deliverables:
Serve as the focal point for initial unit contact to Management, Project Managers (PM) and other internal constituents. With PMs and lead engineers, define the scope of work for work proposals. Direct/assign work to the unit to balance activities between work groups. Maintain responsibility for the unit’s quality and establish and enforce quality standards. Accept responsibility for budget and schedule for assigned projects.
Assign unit’s Responsible Engineers (RE) and provide recommendations for Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE). Approve engineering documents produced by the unit. Certify design documents as required by state and local client and code requirements. - Business Development:
Lead proposal preparation with input for scope and budget to PMs. Develop professional relationships with client counterparts. Assist in marketing the unit’s expertise to clients. - Leadership & Staff Development:
Identify and promote opportunities for site work and training opportunities. Use the review/approval process of deliverables as a technical training opportunity. Provide timely performance feedback and coaching. Promote professional development (e.g., professional licenses, certifications). Support company policies and continuous improvement efforts. Demonstrate technical leadership and resolve technical issues, coordinating with Subject Matter Experts as needed. Supervise an Engineering Unit comprising work group lead engineers and staff. - Organizational Support:
Assign engineering resources to projects. Maintain staffing projections. Approve timesheets and expense reports. Conduct annual performance appraisals. Support management in recruiting new employees. - Contribution to Business Goals:
Meet applied time goals for the position/division/discipline.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of engineering experience including experience supporting the nuclear power industry and 2+ years of leadership experience
- PE License is required
- Ability to gain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear sites
- Experience working in a Nuclear Power Plant environment and familiarity with NRC governing codes
- Excellent verbal communication skills; effective communicator with team, clients, and management
- Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
- Strong coordination and team-building skills across disciplines
- Ability to assess and adjust support to team needs
- Motivational leadership aligned with ENERCON’s Defining Excellence fundamentals
- Problem-solving and general scientific evaluation skills
- Travel up to 15 - 25% of the time to client sites (at least monthly)
- Activities at client sites may require pre-job briefs and site walkdowns (occasional climbing)

Salary ranges reflect typical ranges for this full-time position based on role, level, and location. Individual compensation will be determined by factors such as location, experience, and skills.
