Pharmacy Technician

Base pay range: $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr

Pharmacy Technician responsibilities may include the following: compounding sterile and non‑sterile pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of the compounding pharmacist; performing fulfillment of data entry and prescription processing, and/or assisting and supporting laboratory technicians in prescription compounding and fulfillment activities. This position reports to the department team lead.

• Must have knowledge of and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures and applicable state laws and regulations.
• Technician shall work under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Technicians may be first point of contact for customers, so it is very important that customers are greeted and assisted in a friendly and professional manner.
• Check prescriptions for completeness and enter necessary information into the computer to generate a prescription label and invoices (if necessary).
• Fill and label prescriptions and pre‑packaging bulk medications and various types of medication and ancillary kits.
• Communicate with prescribers to receive refill authorization; receive patient refills by telephone, directing calls or taking and relaying messages.
• Assist team lead with organization and appearance of the pharmacy front‑end, ordering and pricing front‑end merchandise.
• May also include sterile and non‑sterile compounding, which may include but is not limited to the compounding of capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, tablet triturates, lollipops, and sterile compounded products.
• Investigate an incident and/or variance as needed, and document variances including the resolution.
• Other duties as determined by department team lead.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be licensed by the State you are applying to work in as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
• Ability to navigate basic computer operating systems.
• Must have at least 3 years of pharmacy experience.
• Must be able to work full time immediately upon hire.

• Proficient in using a computer and related equipment, including printers and fax machines.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
• Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
• 20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids) required for visual inspection of drug products.
