Location: Jacksonville, FL, with expectation to relocate to other sites.
As a Project Manager, this position is responsible for managing marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad projects. The Project Manager is the primary leader in the field and is directly accountable for safety, financial performance, and team development on site. The Project Manager will lead the project team in the construction of the entire project and ensure quality and timely completion.
Responsibilities- Review project proposal and plans to determine schedule, budget, procedures, staffing and resource allocation.
- Manage and supervise staffing, arrange recruitment/assignment, and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Review status reports, modify schedules or plans as required.
- Prepare project reports for management, client, or others.
- Initiate and maintain liaison with clients and contacts to facilitate construction activities and procure future work.
- Prepare or oversee engineering estimate reports; utilize financial forecasting to manage and contain costs.
- Prepare or oversee progress billings; pursue timely payments from customers and authorize payments to material suppliers and subcontractors.
- Document and analyze daily resources utilized in performance of work.
- Coordinate with field operations for equipment acquisition, outfitting, and maintenance.
- Identify, evaluate, and select production methodologies to keep project on schedule and under budget.
- Education:
Bachelors in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited college or university. - Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be willing/eligible to obtain one upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least seven (7) years of experience with project management in marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad construction operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to problem-solve and interpret various instructions.
- Working knowledge of standard construction practices and laws.
- Certifications:
Adult First Aid with CPR and AED, OSHA‑30, Project Management Professional (PMP). - At least ten (10) years of experience with project management in marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad construction operations.
- Proficient in HCSS, Heavy Bid, and scheduling software such as Primavera P6. Thorough knowledge of marine construction operations (welding, pile driving, crane, barge operations).
- Must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel‑toed shoes, PFD, or other protective equipment.
- Must frequently work near moving mechanical parts, adapt to temperature, outdoor conditions, prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
- May be required to work long hours and/or weekends; some out‑of‑town or overnight travel may be required.
- May occasionally be required to sit in a vehicle for up to 8 hours.
- May be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move within job site of varying heights and access parameters.
- May occasionally be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, or sit for long periods.
- Must lift objects with a minimum of 10 lbs and a maximum single‑person lift of 50 lbs; may involve frequent lifting or carrying.
