Overview

Velocity’s Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship and reliability across our production departments. This role involves performing thorough quality checks during and after the production process in metal fabrication, paint and body, or mechanical assembly. This individual plays a pivotal role in reducing warranty issues and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Inspections:
    • Conduct detailed inspections during and after production to ensure components and assemblies meet established standards.
    • Identify and document defects, inconsistencies, and areas of concern throughout the production process.
    • Collaborate with department teams to address quality issues promptly and effectively.
  • Process Monitoring:
    • Monitor production workflows to ensure compliance with established quality control procedures.
    • Provide real‑time feedback to production teams to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and findings.
    • Prepare detailed quality reports for review by the Quality Manager.
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of quality control documentation and protocols.
  • Warranty Issue Prevention:
    • Identify potential quality issues that could result in warranty claims and work with teams to mitigate risks.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to improve production quality and reliability.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle defects or inconsistencies.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, define plans to achieve goals, create timelines and provide status reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in quality control within the automotive, manufacturing, or similar industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive production processes, including metal fabrication, paint and body, and mechanical assembly.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
  • Frequently lifting heavy objects, such as tools, parts, or equipment, weighing up to 50–75 pounds.
  • Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
  • Moving large or heavy equipment, carts, or vehicles within the shop.
  • Precise manipulation of tools, small parts, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands for typing, writing, and operating a computer.
  • Using telephones, printers, copiers, and other office tools.
  • Frequent need to focus on printed or digital material.
  • Reviewing documents, schedules, or customer data with accuracy.
  • Exposure to loud noises from power tools and machinery.
  • Working in non‑climate‑controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
  • Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting mechanical or structural issues.
  • Frequent reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
  • Maintaining physical activity throughout the day without fatigue.
  • Adherence to safety protocols to avoid injuries from sharp tools, heavy objects, or moving vehicles.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
