Wastewater Operator or Senior Wastewater Operator. Candidates selected for this position will work at one of our three Water Reclamation Facilities:
Central Water Reclamation Facility (CWRF), Bayou Marcus Water Reclamation Facility, or Pensacola Beach Water Reclamation Facility.

Wastewater OperatorJob Summary: PG H105 – Starting pay $18.22 per hour.
Working on an assigned shift, performs semi‑skilled or skilled work in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. Overlooks lower‑level personnel, supervised by higher‑level technical staff or a licensed operator.
Essential Job Functions- Calibrates meters and analyzers using specific protocols when discrepancies are identified to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and Florida Administrative Code.
- Interprets operating data and observations to continually optimize the treatment process and equipment, making adjustments to treat influent and effluent in compliance with all rules, regulations, and ECUA SOPs.
- Regulates and adjusts controls in the operation of gauges, meters, and specialized equipment, including motor pumps, valves, and generators.
- May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary.
- Takes samples at various points in the process, performs physical and chemical tests, and records results.
- Monitors operation of various equipment and machinery, using both physical senses and auxiliary equipment to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Adjusts equipment to produce the required effect.
- Calibrates, reads, and records various meters and gauges.
- Collects and tests samples, recording results accurately in accordance with SOPs and Florida Administrative Code.
- Identifies when major repairs are needed and informs supervisor or completes work orders via the infor work system.
- Maintains equipment and performs minor maintenance, such as changing small parts, clearing minor clogs, and building up.
- Uses hand tools and power tools to ensure proper operation.
- Adds chemicals such as chlorine, aluminum sulfate, glycerin, methanol, sodium bisulfate, polymers, and magnesium hydroxide to maintain prescribed levels and permit requirements.
- Cleans and maintains tanks, filter beds, and other work areas with hand and power tools.
- Records operational data into specified forms and log books in compliance with SOPs.
- Maintains facility grounds using lawn tools to create a clean appearance.
Job Summary: H109 – Pay range $23.01–$37.96 per hour.

- Performs general maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- May prepare work orders for repairs beyond shift personnel capabilities.
- May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary.

- Provides routine testing, monitoring, and maintenance of water reclamation facilities.
