Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional, Special Education Assistant, Special Needs / Learning Disabilities, Elementary School
Long-term Teachers are working in partnership with a fantastic school to recruit a dedicated, caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage
2. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive school environment on a full-time, ongoing basis, where your contribution will make a genuine difference to children's learning, development and everyday experiences.
If you're passionate about helping children overcome challenges, build confidence and thrive in the classroom, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
About the RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring every child has the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to succeed. Working closely with class teachers and other support staff, you'll provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), while also contributing to a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
No two days will be the same! You'll work across different year groups, adapting your approach to meet each child's individual needs and helping them access learning in a way that works for them. Whether you're breaking tasks down into manageable steps, using visual aids, supporting emotional regulation or celebrating those all-important little wins, your patience and encouragement will help pupils grow both academically and socially.
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who wants to do more than simply support learning —
you'll help children develop independence, build meaningful relationships and believe in what they can achieve.
- Provide personalised one-to-one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Support children's academic progress, communication, emotional regulation and social development.

- Support pupils with classroom routines, transitions and day-to-day learning activities.
- Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, teachers and fellow support staff.
We're looking for someone who brings warmth, patience and enthusiasm to the classroom, and who genuinely wants to make a difference in children's lives.
You’ll ideally be:
- Patient and compassionate
, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. - Experienced in working with children
, ideally within an SEN or mainstream school setting. - Flexible and adaptable
, happy to support pupils across different year groups and learning environments. - Confident and encouraging
, with the ability to support a range of learning, behavioural and emotional needs. - A strong team player
, able to build positive relationships with teachers and other professionals. - Proactive and reliable
, with a positive attitude and a willingness to get involved. - Committed to inclusion
, helping every child feel supported, understood and capable of success.
Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant would be an advantage, but it's not everything. We also welcome applications from individuals with transferable experience, a willingness to learn and a genuine desire to help children flourish.
The right attitude, a caring approach and a passion for making a difference can go a long way.
