My client is seeking an experienced facilities Gas and Chemical engineer, responsible for supporting the ongoing design, construction, commissioning and operations for the Gas and Chemical systems.
Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will evolve throughout the project lifecycle, ranging from design and commissioning to full-scale operations, requiring adaptability and a proactive approach to each phase.
Design, Construction, And Commissioning Phase- Collaborate with Gas and Chemical design vendors to ensure design expectations are met.
- Review drawings, submittals, and construction progress; perform engineering inspections.
- Identify and address abnormalities during construction and commissioning.
- Prepare and operate utility equipment for commissioning.
- Manage handover documentation and manuals.
- Monitor construction activities, project schedules, RFIs, and submittals for flawless execution.
- Work closely with project and construction teams to ensure timely operations.
- Provide engineering support for the design, operation and maintenance of gas, chemical, and slurry distribution systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Provide engineering support with a strong understanding of chemical distribution modules (CDMs), valve manifold boxes (VMBs), valve manifold panels (VMPs), chemical control systems, and toxic gas monitoring systems to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Take ownership of system capacity planning, troubleshooting, and sustaining activities to meet dynamic production demands.
- Create GAC systems database, support system shutdown planning activities, expansion as needed.
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to optimize system performance and streamline maintenance strategies.
- Conduct system evaluations and develop improvement plans through capital and expense projects.
- Maintain and update documentation for operational and maintenance procedures.
- Integrate reliability engineering and risk analysis into daily operations, including FMEAs, root cause investigations, and design reviews.
- Oversee project execution to ensure alignment with design intent, budget, and timeline.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of CDMs, VMBs, VMPs, chemical related controls, Toxic Gas Monitoring system.
- Knowledge of adjacent disciplines (automation, water, drains, environmental).
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in corporate software tools (MS Office, Bluebeam).
- Willingness to work overtime or respond to emergencies.
- Ethical, trustworthy, respectful, and flexible.
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in Chemical facilities engineering (design & operations).
- Knowledge of water treatment technologies and processes.
- Experience in design, construction, commissioning, and start-up preferred.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) is a plus.
