Shift Details

7:00am – 7:30pm / 7:00pm – 7:30am (required to work two 12‑hour shifts per month) | Availability to attend court hearings when listed as a witness on a petition.

$19.50 – $23.50/hr

Summary of Job

The Peer Support Specialist II provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. The role also assists in creating and implementing a recovery environment, and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of each participant. Support includes resume building, job searching, and recovery planning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Guest Care & Advocacy:
    Provides coaching, mentoring, and role‑modeling to peer support staff; facilitates professional development training opportunities.
  • Provides support for participant wellness, groups, and activities that strengthen recovery.
  • Ensures all program elements and expectations are being met.
  • Engages participants in a recovery partnership; helps identify hopes, dreams, and solutions.
  • Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
  • Models hope, personal responsibility, and self‑advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be met.
  • Cultivates connectedness in the participant’s life (self, others, environment, meaning, and purpose).
  • Compliance &

    Risk Management:

    Completes clinical notes and facilitates documentation, transfers, and transition of guest care.
  • Stays abreast of all federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures; complies with Recovery Innovations standards, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    Assists with initial introductions to clinical team, coordinates services or resources, facilitates transportation and community integration.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with team members.
  • Additional Duties:
    Creates peer‑level curriculum and facilitates group activities; performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Outpatient Programs:
    Aids participants with resume building, job searching, recovery planning, and healthy living support.
Job Requirements
  • Education/Licenses:
    Successful completion of Peer Employment Training and obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist;
    High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience:

    Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services; two (2) years full‑time behavioral health experience; additional training in peer‑related topics; experience in community navigation, resume writing, curriculum development, and family peer support.
  • Skills:

    Basic computer skills; ability to teach and train recovery information and tools; effective communication skills; must pass de‑escalation training as defined by state requirements.
  • Driving Requirements:
    If driving is required, must meet all Recovery Innovations driving policy requirements; otherwise a Non‑Driver Attestation must be signed.
  • Miscellaneous:
    Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless a different minimum age requirement applies; travel required based on business need; maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) and professionalism;
