Monday through Thursday
10-hour days with start time 6am
As part of our production team, the QC Department ensures the highest quality products for Apex customers through proper quality assurance inspection methods.
In our QA Inspector role, you will evaluate parts for technical accuracy and quality of finish. QC evaluation includes visual inspection, mechanical inspection using measuring tools such as calipers and gauges, and technical measurement with an optical measuring machine (“OMM”). Part drawings provide technical requirements, and our QC Engineer provides the QA evaluation process for each part. You will follow theQA evaluation process and read the part drawing to understand the areas on eachpart to evaluate.
Documentation of evaluation results is completed with formsand our online tracker spreadsheet. Interaction with machinists and other shop personnel, as well as the Manufacturing Manager and Chief Operating Officer,may be required to complete your evaluation.
A successful QA Inspector will havegood attention for detail, understand the QC process and part drawings to guide their evaluation and apply critical thinking skills to determine pass and failparts.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:- Inspects incoming and in-house manufactured parts using proper measuring devices.
- Performs testing of incoming andin-house parts using appropriate testing machines/devices for visual,mechanical and OMM inspections.
- Performs First Article inspection as directed by Quality Control Engineer.
- Secondary authority for parts to be determined for scrap.
- Corresponds with Quality Control Engineer regarding out of spec and damaged parts.
- Works directly with Machinists regarding pass/fail results and recommended re-work on in-house manufactured parts.
- Records observations and may make recommendations to Quality Engineer for improving processes.
- Maintains neat and accurate records,test samples, QC documents of results of measurements and coordinates recordkeeping with QC Inspector Level 1.
- Follows Department processes &procedures.
- Availability to work Overtime asneeded.
- Knowledge of OMM or CMMmeasuring machines and/or willingness to learn.
- Comfortable managing challenging inter-department team interactions.
- Experience with technical documentation.
- Basic knowledge and use of calipers and micrometers.
