Staff Accountant - Peoria, IL - $65,000-$75,000 Annually DOE
Join ELM Companies as a Staff Accountant in our Peoria, IL corporate office. This role supports the accounting needs of ELM Utility Services and LaunchPoint Software Systems, providing essential financial expertise to a multi‑state operation.
Description of Position’s Essential FunctionsELM is seeking a Staff Accountant to become a valued business partner to the Operations team. You will work cross‑functionally, build relationships, and interact regularly with senior leaders. Attention to detail, excellent customer service, and a focus on continuous improvement are critical. Office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
Main Responsibilities- Lead monthly close.
- Account reconciliations, journal entries and account variance analysis.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial and management reports.
- Perform analytic analysis of results and trends.
- Manage fixed assets and leases, including related reporting.
- Support 1099 year‑end reporting.
- Assist with annual inventory true‑up.
- Manage company‑wide corporate credit card program.
- Assist with annual financial audit and other audits as needed.
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting.
- Assist with vendor data management.
- Assist with state and local filings.
- Assist with Accounts Payable when needed.
- Assist other accounting team members as needed.
- Special projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree majoring in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- 1–3 years’ experience in Public Accounting and/or Corporate Accounting roles.
- Proficiency in Quick Books desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Emburse Certify expense‑tracking software (a plus).
- Experience with fixed‑asset tracking software.
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and balance multiple conflicting priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop working relationships remotely.
