Child Care Assistance Program Specialist
BASE WAGE $17.84-$19.61 per hour based on education level.

DESCRIPTIONSAL Community Services connects the community to services that ensure every child can succeed in school and life, and every adult has access to basic human needs like food, counseling, child care, and housing. We do this by listening, learning, and acting to help individuals and families navigate the barriers that prevent them from moving their life forward in a positive way.
The Child Care Assistance Program Specialist position is a critical member of our Child Care Connection team, a program under SAL Community Services. In the role, you get to help families find child care providers and determine if they’re eligible for child care assistance and support the Illinois Department of Human Services. You will:
- Work with families to determine eligibility of state‑funded programs.
- Process Illinois Department of Human Services and Child Care Resource and Referral reports.
- Maintain assigned caseload of subsidized child care services for both parents and child care providers as contracted by IDHS.
- Verify client and child care provider eligibility in assigned caseload.
- Process applications, approvals, cancellations, denials and redeterminations.
- Share a love for children and a passion for helping them learn, grow, and thrive;

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A full list of job responsibilities will be provided prior to an interview. Education and ExperienceRequired:
High School Diploma or equivalency certificate (GED). Preferred:
Associate's degree (or 66+ hours of college credit). Experience with or knowledge of Child Care Resource and Referral Service or child care services and experience working with families with low income and/or child care subsidies is desired.
