Join the University of Illinois College of Medicine as an Assistant/Associate/Professor in Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology. This faculty position requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and a 3-year Hematology/Oncology Fellowship. BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and an Illinois physician license (or application for license) are required.
Position SummaryAs a Physician Scientist, the successful candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric hematologic and oncologic patients at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood Disorder Institute, participate in teaching programs for medical students and residents, conduct translational research in pediatric oncology, and engage in clinical trials with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Children’s Oncology Group.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric hematologic and oncologic patients at OSF Children’s Hospital.
- Perform dedicated research in basic/translational pediatric oncology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria Campus.
- See referral hematology/oncology consultations from the Central Illinois Region.
- Participate in teaching programs for undergraduate medical students and residents; contribute to graduate and continuing education programs.
- Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in pediatric hematology/oncology.
- Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials e Children’s Research Hospital and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
- Complete other duties of a university faculty member, including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration.
- Perform additional related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
- Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.
- MD/DO or equivalent.
- Experience in basic/translational laboratory work.
