The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UlCOMP) Neurology Department is seeking a board certified or board-eligible Neurology physician for a full-time position as a University Neuro Oncologist to work jointly with OSF Healthcare to initiate a clinical program to provide clinical care and initiate a program of research and possibly a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology.

The position is as Assistant/Associate Professor or Professor. The ideal candidate will have completed a fellowship in Neuro Oncology and be BC/BE in Neurology. The position includes teaching medical students and residents in the Neurology department on inpatient teaching rounds along with providing clinical services for patients hospitalized in OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC), organize and conduct research and QI programs as desired, and perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.

As a Neuro Oncologist, opportunities are available for curriculum development, quality improvement, education and clinical leadership roles.

The candidate will join the Neurology group at UICOMP as core faculty working at the OSF Healthcare facility which is a high-volume center with specialized physicians including neurosurgical oncology, radiation oncology, neuropathology/radiology and residencies in both neurology and neurosurgery.

The primary teaching hospital for the residency and student programs at UICOMP is Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC). OSF is UICOMP’s main clinical partner. OSF Health Care Saint Franis Medical Center is the only Illinois hospital with both an iMRI and a Gamma Knife in the same location. Located right on the medical campus, a brand new OSF Health Care Cancer Institute is scheduled to be completed in January of 2024 which will house 1 of 2 Proton Beams in the state of Illinois.

Basic and translational research can be conducted in collaboration with Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC) within the Molecular Neuro-oncology laboratory.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach medical students and residents in the Neurology department on inpatient teaching rounds
  • Provide clinical services for patients hospitalized in the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC)
  • Organize and conduct research and QI programs as desired.
  • Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student and resident mentoring, and administrative opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois
  • Board certified or eligible in Neurology
  • Successful completion of fellowship in Neuro Oncology
