The Pain Management / Anesthesia Physician plays a vital role in improving the quality of life for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. This position combines clinical expertise in anesthesiology with advanced interventional pain management, offering the opportunity to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. The physician will evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex pain conditions while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based treatment across procedural and perioperative settings.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical Evaluation & Patient Management
Conduct thorough medical evaluations for patients with acute and chronic pain, including detailed history reviews, physical examinations, diagnostic interpretation, and risk assessments.
Diagnose pain-related conditions and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that integrate pharmacologic, interventional, and multidisciplinary approaches.
Manage complex pain cases longitudinally, providing ongoing follow-up care, medication management, treatment adjustments, and long-term symptom monitoring.
Interventional Pain ProceduresPerform image-guided interventional pain procedures, including but not limited to:
- Facet joint injections and medial branch blocks
- Radio frequency ablation
- Spinal cord stimulator trials and permanent implantations
- Additional fluoroscopic- and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and neuromodulation techniques
Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Ensure full compliance with all state and federal regulations, pain management guidelines, and controlled substance prescribing protocols.
Multidisciplinary CollaborationWork collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health specialists, and surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Participate in, and potentially lead, interdisciplinary pain management conferences and care coordination meetings.
Required QualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical institution.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, as applicable.
Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Arizona.
Demonstrated proficiency in fluoroscopy- and/or ultrasound-guided interventional procedures.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills with a patient-centered approach to care.
Desired QualificationsFellowship training in Pain Medicine (preferred or required depending on practice setting).
Experience managing complex, chronic pain populations in multidisciplinary clinical environments.
Interest in quality improvement, clinical excellence, and collaborative care models.
