Teen REACH Coordinator – Greater Peoria Family YMCA
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The Teen REACH Coordinator will report to the Senior Program Director of Youth Development and will provide engagement and support in delivering quality youth development programs designed to enrich the lives of middle- and high‑school students through the Teen Reach after‑school program, summer day camp, life skills, recreation, academic enrichment, career building, character education, and service learning. The Coordinator understands character development is a chief mission of the YMCA and personally exhibits a commitment to this goal in all YMCA operations.
They will work with and be accessible to volunteers, parents, and youth participants in the DHS Teen REACH Program.
- Ensure the health, safety and well‑being of participants in the youth development and camp programs by providing close supervision of all activities and ensuring spaces are clean and supplies are well maintained.
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
- Provide leadership, guidance and training for program staff, youth interns, and apprentices.
- Plan, create, design, and facilitate all in‑person lesson plans and implementation for all youth programs or team projects.
- Direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff as required.
- Create schedules, timelines and detailed outlines for all youth staff and programming.
- Coordinate and supervise the day‑to‑day activities of program staff, youth interns, and apprentices.
- Track and document program sessions with sign‑in sheets, detailed notes, photos, and any other appropriate means.
- Lead evaluations of program staff and interns/apprentices in collaboration with program staff.
- Maintain and expand effective collaborative relationships with schools, organizations, etc., and serve as liaison between youth, program staff, and management.
- Monitor program activities; review, prepare and submit program reports to any funding agencies supporting the program.
- Responsible for intake of enrollment and registration, data collection of demographics.
- Manage administrative data entry in systems including Daxko, E‑Cornerstone, QPSA, coordination of participant paperwork, conducting program surveys, and all other requirements outlined by the YMCA’s Teen Standards and Program Charts of Work.
- Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
- Develop positive relationships with participants and their family members.
- Work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
- Assist in fund development endeavors for the Youth Development department.
- Understand and maintain risk management and safety compliance.
- Adhere to all Department of Health, Greater Peoria Family YMCA expectations and regulations.
- Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events as appropriate.
- Other activities and duties as needed to address the ongoing health and well‑being of staff and members.
- Design and grow family engagement programming while increasing member involvement, modeling the importance of building connections among staff, members, program participants and volunteers.
- Help lead recruitment and hiring of diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity; onboard and develop the team for success.
- Assist the Senior Program Director of Youth Development in managing youth development and camp programs, including design, curriculum planning, scheduling, and supervision, and monitor all aspects of these programs while attending to fiscal objectives.
- Provide direction and communication feedback to counselors regarding related issues and administrative decisions.
- Understand and compile program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented Family & Teen Programs.
- Assist with annual campaign activities and other duties assigned in helping and assisting the supervisor.
