Engineering Detailer / Drafter
This Engineering Detailer/Drafter role focuses on designing and detailing components that power mission-critical facilities such as data centers and hospitals. You will create precise 2D and 3D CAD drawings for rugged rental products and stationary generator-set packages, ensuring they are build-ready for fabrication and assembly. Working closely with engineering, project management, supply chain, and fabrication teams, you will help keep essential power systems online by transforming technical inputs into accurate, production-ready documentation.
Responsibilities
- Create clear and accurate 2D and 3D drawings for skids, bases, enclosures, fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and wiring layouts using established company CAD standards.
- Translate engineer and customer inputs into complete, build-ready fabrication drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and the Fabrication Shop to resolve design questions and ensure drawings remain production-ready.
- Maintain current drawing sets by applying redlines, revisions, and as-built updates, ensuring accurate file management and version control.
- Leverage AutoCAD and Inventor to design and detail parts, weldments, and assemblies for generator-set packages and related equipment.
- Use Microsoft Office tools to support documentation, reporting, and communication related to design projects.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment when working on manufacturing floors or job sites.
- Support continuous improvement of CAD standards and design practices to enhance quality and efficiency.
Essential Skills

- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, project management, supply chain, and fabrication.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Caterpillar toolsets such as CAT ET, CAT Monitoring Software, SIS, and EDDC is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of diesel and natural-gas generator sets is preferred but not required.
- Engine or diesel engine knowledge is considered especially valuable.
- Experience with electrical layouts and engine-related systems is beneficial.
- Experience in CAD, mechanical design, drafting, and engineering detail work in a manufacturing environment.
- Interest in supporting projects related to data centers and other mission-critical facilities.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols.
- Willingness to occasionally travel as required for project or site support.
