Duties As a DIRECTOR OF INSPECTIONS (Title
5), GS-1801-12, you will serve as the focal point for interpreting, developing, and implementing Air Force inspection policy and wing-level long-range strategic plans. Provides direction and oversight of internal and external inspections, audits, evaluations, reviews, exercises, and analyses to determine unit effectiveness and efficiency. Ensures operational, contingency, and mobilization plans adhere to policy and direct the effective use of wing resources.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
* Plan, organize, resource, and direct wing-level inspection activities for the Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP) in accordance with DoD, DAF, NGB, G-MAJCOM, state, and wing guidance.
* Develop and continuously evaluate a Risk-Based Sampling Strategy (RBSS) to assist commanders in identifying areas of risk and allocating resources.
* Construct inspection and exercise plans that assess unit readiness, compliance, and mission effectiveness across multiple functional areas.
* Plan and program exercises by determining scope, scale, rigor, relevance, recurrence, and reporting (S2R4) in coordination with commanders.
* Develop strategic inspection and exercise timelines that align with CCIP calendars, external inspections, and higher headquarters requirements.
* Interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, and guidance from DoD, DAF, NGB, and G-MAJCOM levels to ensure inspection and exercise compliance.
* Conduct and oversee inspections, audits, evaluations, and reviews to determine unit compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
* Author and approve inspection, exercise, and commander inspection reports that document compliance status, deficiencies, recommendations, and strengths.
* Utilize inspection and readiness systems such as MICT, IGEMS, IGEMS-C, and readiness reporting tools to document and assess compliance.
* Perform waiver determinations and prepare waiver packages for submission to appropriate approval authorities with commander concurrence.
* Analyze inspection and exercise data to identify trends, systemic deficiencies, and areas of risk affecting wing readiness and compliance.
* Determine whether identified trends represent wing-wide concerns and recommend corrective actions or inclusion in CCIP inspections.
* Develop courses of action for commanders to address deficiencies, mitigate risk, and improve program effectiveness.
* Evaluate inspection and exercise processes and autonomously adjust methods and procedures to ensure commander intent is achieved.
* Oversee and manage Wing Inspection Team (WIT) members by validating qualifications, assigning inspection and evaluation duties, and monitoring performance.
* Identify training requirements and oversee certification, training, and readiness of inspectors and evaluators.
* Explain performance expectations to WIT members and provide guidance and feedback during inspection and exercise planning and execution.
* Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including external agencies and other services, to support inspections, exercises, and evaluations. Requirements Conditions of employment
