Overview

Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks a doctoral-level child and adolescent clinical psychologist to join the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. This full-time position is ideal for individuals seeking an academic position that allows for clinical practice, supervision and teaching, support of trainee research, and opportunities for leadership roles, program development, and administrative advancement.

The responsibilities of the position include helping to develop child and adolescent mental health services in the community, both through direct clinical care but also supervision of trainees. Our department has worked to identify areas of need for children and families and is positioned to support a growing clinical enterprise to meet those needs. We have developed strong community partnerships and anticipate that the faculty member will work alongside other clinicians in a tertiary care children’s hospital, at Easter Seals, and at a local university.

We anticipate opening a new child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship to train the next generation of caregivers. This fully academic position will actively support our recruitment efforts and teach and supervise child psychiatry fellows, general psychiatry residents, and medical students. The faculty member will participate in department-wide programming such as Grand Rounds, Journal club, and Case Conference. Other duties include curriculum development, promoting a culture of excellence, student evaluation, and scholarly support.

Most duties can be adapted to the interests of the applicant. The department values and supports the growth, development, and professional advancement of its faculty members. Competitive salary and benefits are commensurate with rank.

Minimum requirements include graduation with a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an APA-approved program, licensed or license-eligible within 6 months in Illinois, and supervised training and experience in psychotherapy, assessment, and research with children and adolescent psychopathology.

Peoria presents an attractive mix of small-town charm and big city offerings. Our large, supportive medical community is embedded in diverse local neighborhoods featuring low cost-of-living, excellent schools, and a variety of leisure and recreational activities. Peoria is the #1 “best place to live” in Illinois and a Top 50 Best Cities in the United States, according to US News and World Report.
