Expected pay for this position is $23.35 - $27.48/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Flight Communications Specialist is a critical part of the OSF Life Flight Team. The Flight Communications Specialist receives all calls requesting Life Flight and dispatches the flight crews according to established procedures. The Flight Communications Specialist also flight follows with all OSF Aviation aircraft and with any other medical helicopter flying into the Peoria area. The Flight Communications Specialist exhibits professionalism at all times in all situations.
The Flight Communications Specialist must be able to follow policy and procedures but also be able to adapt to changing situations as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires high school diploma
- Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in the following:
- Firefighter, EMT, Medical Communications, 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch, or Flight Communications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Previous experience/employment for Air Medical Communication Services
- Certified Flight Communicator certification (or must obtain within the first year of employment)
- Knowledge in the use of Google Maps, Google Earth, Delorme Street Atlas, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and Dropbox
- The ability and skill to use computers to document entries into the CAD system and to utilize mapping software
- Basic knowledge of the State of Illinois and the geographical locations of cities / interstates within the state
- The ability to adjust varying workloads
- The ability to perform self-directed work while following established protocols and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
