Expected pay for this position is $20.41 - $24.01/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
OverviewThis position will be supporting pharmacy services within OSF Home Infusion Pharmacy in Peoria, IL.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Patient Financial Navigator ensures that each patient has a complete and accurate medical record, including demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor, and registration details. This role helps patients understand the services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities, and expectations before and after care. The Pharmacy Patient Financial Navigator provides financial education to clarify estimated out-of-pocket expenses and offers guidance on bill payment options.
This role is expected to be knowledgeable about payment alternatives, grants, assistance programs, and other resources to support patients in managing financial obligations. The Pharmacy Patient Financial Navigator will be responsible for determining payer sources, securing necessary authorizations, referrals, or pre-determinations, confirming coverage, identifying out-of-network considerations, and assisting with billing or invoice inquiries. This position completes activities associated with billing of necessary medical/pharmacy claims.
The Pharmacy Patient Financial Navigator will provide clear, professional communication with patients, providers, and internal departments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma/ GED
Experience:
1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in pharmacy billing, reimbursement, revenue cycle, or patient financial navigation.
Licensure/ Certification:
Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Experience with patient registration, patient accounts, patient finance, insurance benefits, financial assistance programs, public health, social services, or other community-based background. Experience working in medical billing, including working with insurance companies, third party administrators with emphasis on customer phone contact.
Licensure/ Certification:
Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of CTP4, ICD 10, HCPCS and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology.
