Expected pay for this position is $29.30 - $34.47/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Respiratory Therapy Technician works in accordance with evidence based policies and procedures of the Medical Center. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by the prescribing physician that is appropriate to all the ages of the patients served. In accordance with established policies and procedures, administers medical gases, medications, airway clearance, other respiratory modalities, monitor levels of supplies and equipment for department and patient care areas.

Applies theoretical knowledge to care of adolescent and adult patients and other members of the healthcare team by demonstrating competence in respiratory skills, problem solving and critical thinking that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School/ GED

Licenses/Certifications:

Successful completion of a respiratory therapy program from an accredited school.

Must have a current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Illinois and current National Board of Respiratory Care credentials if credentialed after July 1, 2002.

BLS from the American Heart Association

Other skills/knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
