Travel Surgical Tech​/ORT - CVORT

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technician for a hospital Open Heart unit requiring CST or TS-C certification and prior surgical tech experience.

• Minimum of 1 year of surgical technology experience required
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or completion certificate from a Surgical Technology program required
• CST through NBSTSA or TS-C through NCCT required
• BLS certification required
• License required if applicable
• Able to independently scrub basic surgical procedures
• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
• Applies sterile technique principles during surgical procedures
• Demonstrates problem-solving skills related to procedures performed

• Hospital-based Open Heart surgical unit
• Day shift schedule with 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week
• Rotational weekend and holiday coverage required
• Rotational floating requirements
• EPIC charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Assists with organization and coordination of surgical supplies and equipment
• Collects patient data and performs accurate documentation as directed by RN and unit guidelines
• Maintains aseptic technique and separation of clean and dirty areas
• Communicates effectively with team members, patients, and families
• Assists providers with procedures, treatments, and equipment preparation
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments according to hospital and nursing society guidelines
• Stocks and prepares exam and procedure rooms
• Obtains and transports specimens per hospital policy
• Serves as a resource for technical equipment within the department
• Assists with inventory management and supply restocking
• Reprocesses endoscopes as needed
• Provides patient care within scope as directed by RN
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies; local candidates not accepted
