Job Description

In this role you will provide legal support on commercial transactions and advise on relationships with strategic suppliers, interacting with senior procurement and product leadership and other legal teams.

The position requires managing a large volume of commercial matters, prioritizing and adjusting quickly to business needs. Responsiveness and efficiency are critical.

What You Will Do

• Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, primarily focused on procurement relationships
• Work with internal clients to ensure agreements accurately reflect business needs and protect Caterpillar
• Counsel business clients on risks inherent in agreements
• Collaborate with regional and substantive lawyers to ensure agreements comply with Enterprise risk tolerances and Board Resolutions, Policies, and Procedures
• Work with outside counsel on a limited, as-needed basis
• Maintain excellent relationships with internal clients and colleagues as a valued member of the Caterpillar Legal team

• Legal Analysis:

• Legal Function:
  Understand responsibilities and organization of the legal function, providing consulting and assistance

Degree and Experience Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• Active Bar admission in any U.S. state
• Considerable legal experience efficiently drafting commercial agreements without significant assistance

Additional Information

• Primary locations:
  Peoria, IL or Irving, TX
• Domestic relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
• Sponsorship not available
• International and Domestic travel up to 5%
