Schedule: Primarily weekdays | Must be available for off-shifts, weekends, and emergencies as needed

Are you an experienced leader in steelmaking operations? We re hiring a Melt Shop Manager to lead daily production across our 170-ton Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF), and 6-strand billet caster. In this critical role, you ll manage people, processes, and performance to drive safety, quality, and productivity in our melt shop.

• Oversee steelmaking operations including furnace, ladle, caster, and support systems
• Manage a team of 4 salaried and ~30 hourly employees
• Partner with Maintenance, Quality, and Rod Mill teams to minimize downtime
• Analyze operational and maintenance data to improve performance
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and production goals
• Drive process control, raw materials handling, and refractory performance
• Coordinate vendor services and outside resources as needed
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance initiatives
• Champion continuous improvement across melt shop operations

• Bachelor s degree in Engineering or Metallurgy preferred – or 10+ years of melting and casting experience in lieu of a degree
• Minimum 4 years in steel melting operations with leadership responsibilities
• Strong experience in industrial team management; union environment preferred

• Knowledge of electric arc furnace operations, ladle metallurgy, and billet casting
• Familiarity with process controls, raw material inputs, and refractory management
• Experience using CMMS and production data systems for analysis and reporting

• Confident leader with the ability to build trust and accountability
• Skilled in coaching, development, and enforcing operational discipline
• Capable of cross-functional collaboration with engineering, maintenance, and operations

• Able to interpret technical and operational data to drive results
• Skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
