Overview
Advanced Practice Provider, Neurosurgery Inpatient – OSF Health Care
In accordance with professional standards of care and the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in an inpatient neurosurgery setting, including assessments, care planning, and collaboration with the neurosurgery team.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with each patient’s preferences, goals, and needs
- Deliver inpatient neurosurgery care in a hospital setting: comprehensive neurological assessments, daily rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons
- Prepare patients for surgery, manage postoperative care, and support smooth transitions of care across the continuum
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (laboratory and imaging), prescribe medications, and document all care provided
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management
- Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, and other specialty services to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Perform procedures alongside residents
- Exposure to a broad range of acute and complex neurological cases
- Work in a collaborative environment with neurosurgeons, residents, APPs, and multidisciplinary teams
- Two 12-hour shifts per week (5:45 AM – 6:15 PM), with rotating weekends and holidays
- Licensed to provide advanced practice nursing services in Illinois or physician assistant services in Illinois, per state regulations
- Licensed by the DEA and Illinois for prescribing narcotics
- BLS/ACLS certified
- Neurosurgery experience preferred; new graduates may be considered
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment with a patient-centered focus

- Clinical base hourly pay range: $60.39-$68.10 (salaried position). Range is an estimate and may be affected by experience, qualifications, and other factors; bonuses or incentives may apply
