Description:
The unit consists of 43 all private rooms.
Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on 12-hour days and 1:5-6 on 12-hour nights.
Common patient diagnoses include a wide variety of medical-surgical cases, postoperative orthopedic cases, and trauma cases with fractures.
Experience in postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical care is preferred with 1-2 years of clinical experience.
A primary charge nurse is present on each shift, with a house supervisor available 24/7.Patient care technicians have a ratio of 1:7-8 and support the nursing team in various duties.
Equipment includes CPAP, heated high flow, and nursing staff may troubleshoot these as needed.
Telemetry pack monitors are used, and nurses are required to read their own strips.
Shifts are 12 hours for travel staff, with a weekend requirement of every other weekend.
Travel nurses may float to other similar medical-surgical floors if needed.
Any color of scrubs is acceptable, with a requirement for a professional appearance.
Tattoos and piercings must be covered.
Unit-specific orientation is provided.
