American Traveler is hiring a Level 3 NICU RN for a night shift position at a Level 1 trauma acute care facility requiring active IL RN license and NRP certification.
Details- Level 3 NICU with 60 total private rooms (40 NICU, 20 Intermediate), expandable to 65 patients with 5 twin rooms
- Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1-3 in NICU and 1:3-4 in NIC
- Patient population includes 22-week and up infants, abdominal defects, pre-cardiac repair, PPHN, CDH, and other genetic defects
- RNs required to titrate drips per orders including Fentanyl, Morphine, and Precedex
- Works with RT equipment including conventional vents, oscillator ventilator, JET ventilator, CPAP, Nasal IMV, heated high flow, and tracheostomy
- All patients monitored on Phillips monitors, no telemetry strip reading required
- Charge RN and 24/7 house supervisor support, with charge RN taking assignments only during staffing gaps
- PCTs available on unit to assist with patient care
- Neonatologist in house 24/7 with 2-3 APNs and resident/fellow coverage
- 12-hour night shifts from with self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed
- Weekend requirements vary by shift, with flexibility for night shift based on facility needs
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No call or standby requirement
- Travelers are first to float and may float to PICU, PIC, Peds, Nursery, sitter duties, BHM, or adult units
- EPIC EMR used
- Active IL RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
- Level 3/4 ICU experience preferred
- Micro preemie care experience preferred
- No fake nails, nail polish, or jewelry/watches permitted
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level 1 trauma acute care facility
- 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided (1 day in NIC, 1 day in NICU)
- Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles are eligible for a local rate
- No radius rule restricting eligibility for the position
- COVID vaccination is not required
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
