American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit position requiring IL licensure and at least three years of relevant nursing experience.

• Surgical unit within a hospital setting (MMCI - 4H Surgical)
• Day shift schedule, 7a-730p, 3 days per week at 12 hours per shift
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday shifts on a rotation basis
• No floating required
• Uses Epic charting system

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Fluent in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English
• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browser use
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills
• Multicultural sensitivity required

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to develop and modify individualized patient care plans
• Document patient progress, outcomes, and event reports as required
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues as needed
• Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control per hospital policy
• Advocate for patients and communicate effectively with physicians and care team members
• Provide teaching and support to patients and families based on individual needs
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel assignment
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Travelers may not be on assignment at this health system for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning
