American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 3-5 years of CVICU experience and an active IL RN license.

• 20-bed Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity
• Patient population includes post open heart surgical patients (CABG, valves, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids), STEMI, unstable angina, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, TAVRs, and ventilated patients
• Utilizes specialty equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external and temporary pacemakers, and CRRT
• Manages PICC, midline, CVC, Swan, and arterial lines (radial and femoral) on a daily basis
• RNs titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol
• RNs required to read and interpret telemetry strips on Philips monitoring equipment
• Charge nurses and house supervisors present 24/7; respiratory therapists in-house 24/7
• CV APNs/PAs and CCS APNs/PAs present most of the time, with physicians on call
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend (Friday/Saturday) and every other holiday required
• Floating to every level of care required, with travelers expected to take a full patient team
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus
• 3-5 years of CVICU experience required; additional ICU travel experience preferred
• Must be able to perform independently without facility-provided training on equipment or patient population
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Must be able to follow protocols and physician orders as written
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

• Provide direct care for complex cardiovascular ICU patients including those requiring hemodynamic support and advanced monitoring
• Work alongside PCTs with ratios ranging from 1:12 to 1:15 depending on staffing
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists managing ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide therapy
• Monitor techs are available to assist with telemetry, though RNs are expected to interpret their own strips
• No particular scrub color required, but attire must be clean and appropriately fitted; scrubs not provided by facility
• Local candidates may be considered at a reduced local bill rate if residing within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius restriction for standard travel assignment eligibility
